I think I may have a problem. I just received the full automatic transmission rebuild kit I ordered... I don't know how to rebuild a transmission... luckily, my transmission is fine. I've also got a new rack & pinion stored in my garage just-in-case... and lots of smaller parts too...

Well, it will be more involved than just swapping the skins; you will need to swap the roof supports as well. But it should be doable... I wonder if a pop-top conversion wouldn't be about the same cost.

On the L300 van/wagon there is a separate large fusible link that supplies the power to the GP/starter relays. I would have expected it to be the same on the JB/L300 truck, but that does look to be original wiring to me. Bad capacitors cause the traces to corrode... it looks kind of like they...

They switched to the triple pod when they added the inside/outside temp gauge. I think it was around the '93-94 changes time frame... does your steering column have the temp sensor on it?

Not if you put the Monroes on it to compensate for weak leaf springs. And a heavy van would make it risker in any case (more likely to bottom the suspension)... but that assumes the .77" longer is actually a potential issue; IDK.

Stock rear shocks are ~ 11" compressed and 18" extended. Those are 11.77" compressed and 18.5" extended. There's a small chance of bottoming the shocks if the factory bump stops are hit hard. But I believe the Bilsteins also have internal bump stops to protect them. There is no other Bilstein...

If you have a lift you could probably use Bilstein 24-022156; w/o a lift 33-186504 are the closest.

Gabriel 49135's are specified for the same vehicles. They cost a bit more, and IDK of anyone who has tried them. I would verify the hoses/connections first though, they are definitely not the highest quality stuff.

The controller is in the A-pillar behind the driver's seat... it's behind a dress panel and the seat belt reel. If you open the access panel behind the driver's seat under the carpet you will have either one glow plug relay (12v "auto glow"), or two relays (6v "super quick").

That sounds like the afterglow function. Where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine there is a temperature sensor, and part of its' job is to tell the glow plug controller if the engine is up to temp. Perhaps you have messed up the wires to it or contaminated the plug/connection? It's...

That sure looks like a collar nut that uses a 4 prong socket to remove... a lot like a spindle nut. I would imagine you can drive it off with a punch/screwdriver in one of the notches.

I'm pretty certain the Bilsteins have internal bump stops, so bottoming it won't destroy the shock. But I would be more concerned with the upper shock mount... it doesn't seem to be that heavy duty to me.

From what I can find, they are 23mm and not 24mm; but heavier than the OEM 20mm. Being for the H100 they should fit, but AFAIK no-one has tried them before.

Which glow plug system do you have? If the glow plugs are cheap metal tipped/non-regulating type you most certainly can overdo it and cause them to blow.

There is a front and a rear differential... stock the front is an open diff; the rear could be a limited slip diff. It does not have the center differential the L400 has which gives it AWD capability; the L300 is part time 4WD only.

Depends, you should be able to run off just the alternator if you're not running lights/accessories. You only need 12v to keep the IP shutoff solenoid open; and you also need 12v to enable 4th gear (OD) on an automatic. If the alternator has failed the shutoff solenoid could be bypassed, but...

Are you sure it's not coming through the speakers? The only times I've ever "heard" anything electrical is with bad grounds causing noise through the speakers. There is a little backup beeper/speaker in the dash on a lot of the vans.
